Why Locals Love The Vietnamese House

Located in the heart of Dubbo at 215a Macquarie Street, The Vietnamese House offers an immersive journey into the rich flavors and culinary traditions of Vietnam. This Vietnamese restaurant excels in serving up authentic dishes crafted with care and passion, blending time-honored recipes with premium ingredients that tantalize every palate.

The menu is a celebration of Vietnamese cuisine’s beloved staples, with standout dishes like the Wagyu Beef Pho Noodle Soup, where a fragrant broth simmered for an impressive 12 hours creates a deeply layered and comforting bowl of nourishment. Complemented by tender Wagyu beef, flat noodles, and fresh shallots, this dish is a sensory delight—aromatic, rich, and soul-warming. For those seeking a bolder experience, the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup channels the essence of Hue City, simmered for 8 hours with a secret blend of 10 spices, delivering a vibrant and complex flavor that will excite your taste buds.

Seafood lovers will find joy in dishes like the Prawn with Egg Noodle, featuring premium tiger prawns wok-tossed with silky egg noodles, crisp Asian broccoli, and shallots—each bite perfectly balanced with texture and freshness. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Pancake, a delicate rice flour crepe stuffed with succulent tiger prawns and crispy pork belly, showcases the kitchen’s mastery in marrying contrasting elements of crunch and softness with aromatic shallots and beansprouts.

The main courses further indulge with options like the Turmeric Fish, grilled marinated Barramundi that is as vibrant in color as it is in flavor, and the Tamarind Prawns, wok-tossed with onions and capsicum for a sweet and tangy finish. For a heartier bite, the Sweet & Sour Pork Ribs offer slow-cooked tenderness infused with the natural sweetness of capsicum and onions. Each dish emphasizes fresh herbs, intense flavors, and faithful preparations that transport diners straight to Vietnam.

The intimate yet spacious dining environment enhances the overall experience. Customers can choose from three inviting levels—including an airy main area, a sun-protected deck, and a serene lower garden level—each designed to keep the atmosphere cool and comfortable even during Dubbo’s warmer days. The stylish decor, complete with tasteful artwork and relaxing water features, creates a cozy and refined backdrop perfect for casual meals or special occasions alike.

The Vietnamese House is praised not only for its food but also for its genuine hospitality. Guests have highlighted the attentive, friendly service and the attention to detail, such as the inclusion of high-quality Vietnamese drip coffee, which provides a sweet finish to a flavorful meal. Accessibility is also thoughtfully addressed with easy access ramps, ensuring all visitors feel welcome.

While some have noted the menu could be expanded with additional Vietnamese specialties like bun cha, the overall sentiment reflects a deep appreciation for the authenticity and quality on offer here. Prices are reflective of the premium ingredients and careful preparation, delivering value well-aligned with the dining experience.

For those craving a harmonious blend of rich tradition, fresh flavors, and a comfortable, stylish atmosphere, The Vietnamese House stands out as a compelling destination in Dubbo’s dining scene—whether you’re a local or a traveler seeking a genuine taste of Vietnam’s culinary heritage.

Food is good. Traveling from Canberra and we’re surprised about the price more expensive than in Canberra thought it was a bit unusual but as long as we get what we paid for it’s all good.

The food is comparable to that served in Vietnam. It's served with genuine customer service and set in a cool, clean environment. I especially liked the Vietnamese "drip coffee". The restaurant has three levels, the main area, deck and a lower garden level. Under a torturing 37 degree summer sun, the restaurant remained cool. It made the hot soup noodles more delightful! I liked the fact that this business is customer focused. "Mary" from Vietnam, who served us, was well informed and spoke English. Prices are on the higher side, but if you are looking for a decent place for a group or family meal, it is worth it.

Nice atmosphere, air conditioned and stylishly designed interior. Plush comfortable seats and a little water feature as well. The food was really good - when we eventually got it. There was a larger birthday table on the day we were there, so our party of 3 didn’t manage to get all the food at the same time which was a bit disappointing. One person finished last of their main before the rest came, however on the average day I’m sure they would do fine. The Vietnamese coffee was great and the duck was really flavourful and crispy skinned. Also we had the beef with morning glory and rice and that was fantastic. Great up-market place to have dinner anytime.

Their food is topnotch! Flavors are perfectly balanced. Their prices might be on the high side but I can’t fault them for this. You are paying not just for great food but also great service and a wonderful atmosphere.

We took our 10 year old daughter to Vietnamese House in Dubbo for her birthday dinner while travelling and it was a terrific experience. The restaurant is lovely and clean with friendly, attentive staff and a really positive atmosphere. The food was fantastic and clearly made with care. You can tell the people here genuinely value good quality food and a welcoming environment. Most importantly our daughter felt very special on her birthday which made the night even better. Highly recommend Vietnamese House for an early family dinner or a relaxed dinner with friends. We will definitely be back when we’re in Dubbo again.

If you’re looking for a Vietnamese restaurant in Dubbo that feels cozy yet a little classy, The Vietnamese House is honestly perfect. The space is warm, well-decorated, and gives you that comfortable, welcoming vibe right away. The owner is originally from Huế, and she’s incredibly friendly, lovely, and thoughtful. The kind of hospitality that makes you feel like you’re being taken care of the moment you walk in. The food is delicious and beautifully presented. And the highlight of my visit today was the Bún Bò Huế. Oh my god — this is exactly the authentic Bún Bò flavor I’ve been searching for in Australia! The broth is rich and aromatic, the spice is just right, and the portion is generous. Every bite tasted like home. Overall, this is one of the few Vietnamese places in Australia that truly captures the flavors of Vietnam. If you’re in Dubbo or passing by, definitely give it a try — you won’t be disappointed!
